存簿業務 (Passbook Savings)

What documents must be prepared when performing inheritance of passbook savings?

You must submit the depositor's death certificate (not required if the household registration transcript already notes the date of death), proof of tax payment (exemption) (not required when inheriting less than NT$200,000), and full household registration transcripts of all legal heirs who can be confirmed that have been issued after the depositor's date of death and heirs' current household registration transcripts (including notes column).
All heirs must bring their national ID cards and seals when performing procedures in person; if any heirs cannot perform the procedures in person, they must submit proof of seal impression issued by a household registration office within the most recent 3 months and letter of authorization bearing the seal impression in verification, or authorized letter of appointment issued by a local embassy or representative office of the ROC, or letter of authorization notarized by a court or private notary public.
However, when the deposits are less than NT$30,000, it is only necessary for the heir's agent to present a household registration document sufficient to verify the heir's status (may be a household registration transcript with detailed annotations or new-type household identification book—limited to documents issued after the depositor's date of death), and the heir's agent must bring his or her own national ID card and seal when performing the procedures in person, and must note on the application form the affidavit "Other heirs' consent has already been obtained, authorizing me to represent the heirs in applying for and receiving the inherited amount."
