PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition will be held on October 21-26, 2016, at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. In accordance with the theme of “Formosa Day,” Chunghwa Post is specially releasing a set of two stamps in a horizontal se-tenant format. This set of stamps is designed with colorful pointillism combined with a smiley face, the most beautiful picture in Taiwan. Between the two stamps of the set, there is a perforation in the shape of a butterfly. The designs follow:1. NT$13 stamp: This stamp takes Yushan (Taiwan’s tallest peak) and Sun Moon Lake as representative of Taiwan’s natural environment and landmarks.2. NT$32 stamp: Featuring the two largest buildings on the island north and south—Taipei 101 and Kaohsiung’s 85 Sky Tower— offer a harmonious image of the island’s shared prosperity. To add to philatelic interest, Chunghwa Post is releasing a mini pane containing two of these stamp sets, each of which features a perforation between the two stamps in the shape of a butterfly. The Post is also releasing a stamp folio entitled “Taiwan’s Scenic Beauty.” Designed with the images of postage stamp, mail box and carrier pigeon suggesting postal services on the cover, the folio portrays Taiwan scenery in hand-painted style while unfolding it. The overall design is truly interesting. The folio will contain the two stamps of this set, the two stamps on the “PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition Commemorative Issue,” and one souvenir sheet, as well as an exclusive gift of a souvenir sheet of the “PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition Commemorative Issue” with printed imitation perforations (with overprinted serial numbers.) This limited edition should have high appeal to collectors.
