Kinmen has many monsoons in winter and typhoons in summer; so, from the Yuan Dynasty down to the present, people there all have a strong wish that the heavy wind could die down. This wish motivates them to build on the roof of their houses or roads where the wind comes the Wind Lion Lord, who is said to have the power to diminish the wind. Now, the anthropomorphic Wind Lion Lord has also been regarded as the protector of the islanders. Filled with the spirit of folk art, the Wind Lion Lord, with its diverse forms, is a cultural heritage worth perserving.. The stamps depict the Wind Lion Lord found in four small villages of Kinmen..
