The 1961 Census of Agriculture of Taiwan Province, Republic of China was accomplished on a full scale beginning December 16, 1960.

To obtain accurate statistical data of the world, the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations had initiated the census of agriculture and invited all the member countries to participate in such a worldwide plan. In compliance with the request of the United Nations, our Government joined the Census of Agriculture project and designated the Province of Taiwan as the census taking area. The census, being the first one in this country, not only provided the United Nations with accurate statistical data on agriculture, but also served as useful reference material for our future economic reconstruction and agricultural development. In order to stimulate public attention to the importance of the census, a set of 〝Census of Agriculture Postage Stamp〞was issued.
