This set of two stamps was issued on January 28, 1981 to mark the beginning of the operation of the meteorological satellite ground station in Taipei. The 2.00 stamp depicts the TIROS-N, a U.S. third generation polar-orbiting satellite, operating in a near-polar circular sun-synchronous orbit. The 10.00 stamp features a front view of the Central Weather Bureau Building. To the left of the building is the auto-tracking antenna with a radome installed on the tower. Above the building is drawn the geostationary meteorological satellite.
