Following the first set of stamps depicting “Former Ode on the Red Cliff,” a work by Su Shi of the Song dynasty and is held in the National Palace Museum, issued on September 25, 2024, Chunghwa Post has issued the second set of five se-tenant stamps, each valued at NT$8. In 1082, Su Shi traveled by boat to the Red Cliff, after which he composed both a former and latter “Ode on the Red Cliff.” Using elegant and profound words, the work is a classic piece of literature having proven its value for nearly a thousand years. The scroll with the Ode is one of the few extant works in his own hand. The brushstrokes are full-bodied yet sedate, showing his understanding of human life.
