In accordance with the PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition theme of “Comics & Animation Day” and to attract young people and generate some philatelic flair, Chunghwa Post is releasing a set of two stamps, featuring a cartoon character Little Yam in the shape of the island of Taiwan and a storyline based on “delivering the mail of the future.” The stamps will be printed as a se-tenant horizontal pair. The gutter between the stamps features an image of white pigeon delivering a letter through time and space, across rivers and over mountains. The image conveys the idea of delivering seeds that contain warmth and that can help to bring a beautiful future. The designs follow:1. NT$5 stamp: On a green expanse of lawn with a blue sky and cottony clouds, cute and lively Little Yam happily puts his letter, which is full of his dreams and hopes, into a mailbox. The little white postal carrier pigeon is happily sitting atop the red mailbox, preparing to dispatch Little Yam’s letter to the future. 2. NT$25 stamp: Little Yam has grown up and green shoots are sprouting from his head. The letter he received has bloomed, as his earlier hopes and dreams for the future have come true. Little Yam is unable to contain his happiness and makes the victory sign. The stamp offers a fun and lively take on the joys of receiving a letter. To add to philatelic interest, Chunghwa Post is releasing a mini pane containing two sets of these stamps. Furthermore, it is also releasing 20,000 copies of “Charity Makes Its Mark Stamp Folio.” The folio will contain the two stamps of this set and one PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition Souvenir Sheet: Charity Around Taiwan as well as an exclusive gift of the souvenir sheet with printed imitation perforations (with overprinted serial numbers).
