A set of stamps was issued on the inauguration day of the IX International Scientific Congress on the Cultivation of Edible Fungi held at the Grand Hotel in Taipei on November 15, 1974. The Congress, a scholastic organization, meets every three years. Reporting the achievements and exchanging information in their respective studies, the representatives to the Congress have made a great contribution to the research and development of the cultivated mushroom. Each stamp takes a fungus as its motif. Name of the fungus in Chinese is printed on the upper right corner of the central design.
