　　The 40th anniversary of the Chinese civil air service was July 1, 1961. To celebrate this memorial occasion and to acquaint the public with the advancement of civil air service in these forty years, one commemorative postage stamp was issued. The design has a jet airliner, as its central subject, 〝The Mandarin Jet〞Convair 880`M, which was put in service by the Civil Air Transport beginning in 1961. There is also a national flag of the Republic of China and a biplane which was in flight service along the Peiping-Tsinan airline early in July 1921, signifying the progress of civil air service.
