In meeting public demand for the mailing of higher postage items, Chunghwa Post is issuing a NT$50-denominated postage stamp, headlining a pair of dragon and phoenix bringing a message of auspiciousness. The design of the stamp features a dragon and a phoenix to form a circle that symbolizes fullness. It is set against a backdrop of the ornate patterns of an ancient coin to denote felicity and opulence. The dragon and the phoenix are the most prominent spiritual tokens of the Chinese culture. Dragon is revered as the most dignified celestial creature, capable of summoning rainfall and bountiful harvest. Holding reign over all other birds, phoenix is a divine bird. “Dragon and phoenix bringing auspiciousness” signifies the consistent flow of good fortune, felicity and prosperity.
