Description
Fong Fei-fei, “the hat-wearing pop queen,” was born in Taoyuan’s Daxi. Actress, singer, and variety show host, Fong was a triple talent and massive star. Twice a winner of the Golden Bell Awards for best female singer, she accepted invitations to go to the United States, Southeast Asia, and other locations to perform for overseas compatriots, and she also performed at benefits and concerts for the armed forces. With the nickname “angel of the working man,” she had a voice conveying great intimacy and elegance that was truly soothing to people’s hearts and minds. She was one of the representative figures in Mandarin popular music of the late 20th century. In commemoration of the hat-wearing pop queen, Chunghwa Post has released a set of four stamps with denominations of NT$6, NT$8, NT$13, and NT$15.
A pictorial has been released along with the stamps. The pictorial contains 4 stamps, a set of 4 pre-cancelled maximum cards bearing a “Daxi” (Fong Fei-fei’s hometown) cancellation, 6 business card layout personal greeting stamps and Fong Fei-fei’s photographs from different eras. The overall design of the volume is beautiful and elegant, making it highly collectable.
