Description
Every February 14 is Valentine’s Day, which is much emphasized by young people these days. In order to raise interest in philately among youth, Chunghwa Post is specially publishing a set of two "Valentine’s Day Postage Stamps."
The illustrations on the stamps have clean-lined designs of two hearts-one large and one small-to express the notion of two hearts beating as one. Printed in a hand-written style, the English words "Happy Valentine’s Day" provide a nice decorative touch and convey the wish that all those who are smitten with each other will come together in love and marriage. The NT$5 stamp adopts a hot pink background, and the lines in the design have been reversed out white to express love as tender as water. The NT$20 stamp, on the other hand, employs a lavender background and dark purple lines to represent sweet love. The stamps in this set use purple as their basic tone so as to highlight the romance of Valentine’s Day. The visual hallmarks of these stamps are their modern design and easy-going drawing style.
