Description
To portray the ancient Chinese artwork, an ancient painting, titled Beauties on an Outing- was selected as the subject for four stamps and a souvenir sheet·
The four stamps were printed in se`tenant format, and each has a denomination of 9·00· The souvenir sheet 110×80 mm& consisting of two 9·00 stamps, shows the main part of the painting· The painting was drawn by Lee Gong`lin, who was a high`ranking government official of the Sung Dynasty· He was good at drawing scenery and figures and at the same time paid particular attention to the drawing of horses· The subject matter of the painting was based on Du Fu's poem known as Beauties on an Outing-, depicting three beauties' visit to Chang An County along a river in the spring·
