Description
In traditional Chinese beliefs, happiness, wealth, longevity and joy are the four most important pursuits in life. According to the legend, these four auspicious things are governed by four star gods in Heaven. Artistic renderings of the gods and calligraphy about these four auspicious things have been used for centuries during the celebration and greeting of the Chinese New Year season and other occasions. The two gods on the two 3.00 stamps are happiness and wealth, while the two on the 7.50 stamps are longevity and joy.
A booklet consisting of two sets of the auspicious postage stamps was issued on the same day. The booklet stamps have two sides perforated, but the top and bottom sides are imperforate, the size of stamp is 30×44 mm..
