Description
Rising 3,952 meters (12,967 feet) above sea level, Yushan is the highest mountain in northeast Asia. In its environs, 30 other peaks reach altitudes over 3,000 meters. As its slopes rise sharply from 1,000 to 4,000 meters, terrain, geology, and climate undergo remarkable changes. The great variety of forest flora, in turn, provides unique habitats for many different creatures.
In addition to grandiose natural landscapes, Yushan is noted for its rare and precious wildlife preserved in the forests, and the relics of ancient passage at Pattonkan constructed in the Ching Dynasty (1644-1911). Yushan National Park will be developed as a park of natural preservation with educationsl, research and recreational purposes.
