Description

Martyr Lu Hao-tung (1868-1895), whose common name was Chung-kuei, was a man of high character-intelligent, calm, frank, loyal, and faithful. Early in life he joined in the revolution and worked in collaboratiion with Dr. Sun Yat-sen in the revolutionary plans. As a result, they became very close friends. Among Martyr Lu Hao-tung's praiseworthy contributions was the revolutionary army flag-the 〝Blue Sky White Sun〞banner. In 1895, when the first attack in Canton failed, he was arrested and sacrificed his life heroically in support of his firm belief. Dr. Sun Yat-sen once said,〝Martyr Lu Hao-tung is the first one in the history of China to sacrifice his life for the cause of the republican revolution.〞

The design was recommended by the Historical Commission, Central Commission of the Kuomintang.
