The year 1979 is the year of the sheep, the stamps have as the central design, an ancient Chinese painting 〝Imitation of the Three Sheep by Emperor Hsuan-tsung of Ming Dynasty〞 by Emperor Kao-tsung of Ching Dynasty, recommended by the National Palace Museum.
The three sheep in the above-mentioned painting, as well as on any other artwork, represent both an ancient Chinese philosophy and a symbolism for good luck and happiness.
