The Mail Order Service was inaugurated on August 1, 1957 for the purpose of meeting the needs of the public, promoting industry, and encouraging the export of national products. This service was of great convenience to the public that the response was very favorable.
Lobsters are produced in abundance in waters along the seashore of Taiwan. The public may order live lobsters through mail order service, when in season a convenience that has been specially appreciated by the public since its inauguration. With a view to acquainting the public with this new service, a postage stamp was issued. As its central subject, the design depicts a lobster crawling out of the water.
