To meet business requirements, a set of airmail postage stamps (issue of 1987) was released on August 4, 1987, and bear values of 9.00, 14.00, and 18.00. These are airmail rates for Hong Kong and Macau, Asia and Oceania, Europe, and Americas and Africa, respectively. The earliest airmail postage stamps of this country came out on July 1, 1921 to frank mail matter between Peking and Chinan, when the first airmail route was opened. There have been twenty-one sets of air mail postage stamps issued since then, the present one included.
