Description

National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) was Taiwan’s first educational institution aimed at meeting the needs of industrial development. It was established in 1912 during the era of Japanese rule as a school of industrial instruction under the colonial administration’s education department. It was later renamed State Taipei School of Industry. After the return of Taiwan to Chinese rule, it became the Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology and converted into National Taipei Institute of Technology afterwards. In 1997, it was reorganized as National Taipei University of Technology. For a century, the institute has cultivated countless numbers of individuals with technological expertise. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding in this November, Chunghwa Post is releasing a set of two stamps printed as a se-tenant pair. The designs follow:

1. NT$5 Stamp: Showing NTUT’s long history. On the right side of the stamp is an image of the old campus gate on Bade Road from 1940. On the left is a red brick building, a municipal historic site that was built around 1918. The last remaining school building from its earliest days, the building is symbol and bastion of school spirit. This elegant building is a favorite spot for students to pose for pictures in their graduation robes.
2. NT$25 Stamp: Demonstrating NTUT’s modern architecture. The right side of the stamp depicts the school’s new campus gate on Zhongxiao East Road, and the left side of the stamp features the campus’ Sixth Instructional Building and Technology Building, which were completed in 2008. The overall composition conveys a modern, high-tech sense - symbolizing that NTUT is always striving to keep up with the times.

To add to philatelic interest, a stamp folio containing two stamps of the set, a pre-cancelled FDC affixed with one NT$5-denominated stamp and two pre-cancelled maximum cards will be released at the same time.
