To exalt the contribution of Confucianism to China and to the world, an International Symposium on Confucianism and the Modern World took place in Taipei on November 12-17, 1987. On the occasion, this Directorate released a commemorative issue on November 12, 1987.
The 3.00 denomination depicts Ta Chen Tian of the Confucius Temple in Taichung. The 18.00 denomination portrays an image of Confucius after the famous collection 〝Nan Shun Tian Tu Shian (南薰殿圖像)〞in the Palace Museum of Taipei.
