Description
The third anniversary of the death of Vice-President Chen Cheng was on March 5, 1968. To mark his noteworthy contributions to this country, a commemorative stamp was issued with his protrait as the subject. The late Vice-President Chen Cheng (1898-1965), born at Tsingtien, Chekiang province, was a devoted follower of President Chiang Kai-shek. He fought in many battles and assisted our President to win victories in the campaigns against the Northern warlords, Japanese invaders, and the rebellious communists. Through his brilliant military career, he rendered distinguished service to our country.
During his tenure as the Premier of the Executive Yuan, he enforced a system of self-government by the Province of Taiwan and completed the land-to-tiller program. All these achievements have long been remembered by Chinese people.
