In the 11th plenary session of the 5th Central Committee of the Kuomintang, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, President of the National Military Council, was elected Chairman of the Central Government to succeed Mr. Lin Sen, who died on August 1, 1943. Chairman Chiang was inaugurated on October 10, 1943.A set of commemorative stamps was issued on the second anniversary of the inauguration with his portrait and national flag as the central design.Printed in a panel at the top are the characters "蔣主席就職紀念" (to commemorate the inauguration of Chairman Chiang) and in a smaller panel beneath is the date of his inauguration ﹞"中華民國32年10月10日" (October 10, 32nd year of the Republic of China).
