Since January 24, 1995, this Directorate has issued four sets of stamps using ancient Chinese engravings as subject matter: the first set depicting flowers was released in January l995, the second set depicting birds was released in August 1995; the third set depicting fruits and vegetables was released in January 1996, and the fourth set featuring paintings of plum blossoms, orchids and bamboo was released in August 1996. According to the revised "Requlations Governing the Writing, Typesetting and Printing of Chinese," horizontally typeset Chinese characters on stamps need no longer read from right to left. Since the first set of stamps was released this year in January, all horizontally typeset Chinese has been changed to read from left to right. The Directorate plans to issue a "second prinf" of the set of flower engravinq stamps. The stamps will have a face value of NT $ 7.00, NT $ 19.00, NT $ 20.00 and NT$26.00 respectively. The only difierence between this set and the first set of the Ancient Chinese Engraving Art Postage Stamps released in January of 1995 is that the Chinese reading "Postage Stamp of the Republic of China" on the bottom of the stamps has been changed to read from left to right.
