After 1943, stamp sales were increased and the Engraving and Printing Department of the Central Trust was unable alone to handle all the stamp printing work. An order was placed by the Postal Administration with the Chung Hwa Book Co., Chungking for printing a Dr. Sun Yat`sen issue in a size somewhat larger than other similar designs. The portrait shows Dr. Sun wearing a Chung Shan suit looking to the right in an oval enclosed in a panel in which there is a white curved line between the inner and outer lines. The native paper used for stamps printing is smooth, but the back is very coarse. The color of $3 stamps varies in shade and some stamps are of crimson color. All stamps were printed in typography.
