While a part of the Manchu postage-due stamps were still in the press in London, arrangements were made with the company for overprinting it with Regular-Writing characters 〝中華民國〞(Republic of China) in two vertical lines on the sides of the original wording〝欠資〞(postage-due) to meet temporary needs before the issue of new postage-due stamps in the name of the Republic of China.
