In response to the Anti-Tuberculosis Movement initiated by the Central Government, the Postal Administration issued a set of Anti-Tuberculosis surtax stamps in the summer of 1948 with a surtax of two thousand dollars printed on each stamp in addition to the stamp value. The surtax collected by the Post Office was remitted to the Central Government to be used as the Anti`Tuberculosis Movement Fund. The stamp design is the Great Wall of China suggesting that there would be no danger, if precautionary measures were taken. The usual inscription〝中華民國郵政〞(Postal Administration of the Republic of China) appears at the top with the anti-tuberculos is insignia printed in red on the side. The stamp value and $2,000 surtax are shown in Chinese characters in two vertical lines on the right side and in Arabic figures in two horizontal lines on the left side above the Chinese wording 〝資助防癆〞(to assist in Anti-Tuberculosis Fund).
