Following the release of Alpine Lakes of Taiwan Postage Stamps (I) in 2014, the Post continues the legacy by issuing a follow-up series of four stamps, featuring four lakes located between the elevations of 2,000 and 3,000 meters. The designs follow: 1. Wanli Pond (NT$5): Sitting at an elevation of about 2,790 meters in Hualian County, this pond is a noted spring of water nestled in an alpine prairie. Its pristine location also makes it a great sanctuary for the local wildlife. 2. Baishi Pond (NT$5): Located in Hualian County at about 2,750 meters above sea level and abutting upon Nantou County, the oval-shaped Baishi Pond is the fountainhead of Hualian River. The water of this pond runs aplenty year-round. 3. Jialuo Lake (NT$10): Situated in Yilan County at an altitude of about 2,240 meters, Jialuo Lake is the largest of the Jialuo Lake Network - a marshland in a broad sense. This area is heavily characterized by its waterlogged, acidic soil, an ideal habitat for hydrophytes. 4. Dagui Lake (NT$12): Set in Kaohsiung City, at about 2,150 meters above sea level, Dagui Lake is a natural lake of the greatest depth in Taiwan. Its surface is veiled by mists and clouds year-round. Dagui Lake is celebrated for having the world’s largest tree cover of Taiwania cryptomerioides.
