February 28, 2007 marks the 60th Anniversary of the 228 (February 28) Incident. Apart from hosting a series of memorial and commemorative events, the ROC government will also hold an inauguration ceremony for the National 228 Memorial Museum and a special exhibition. The museum is located in the former United States Information Service Building on Nanhai Road in Taipei. The building once served as the Taiwan Education Association Hall during the Japanese colonial era. And then, it was briefly turned into the meeting hall for the Provincial Assembly Council and the Taiwan Provincial Government. Currently, it has been designated as a grade three historic site by the Taipei City Government. To convey the importance that the government places on this peace memorial and to soothe and heal 60 years of pain and wounds and thus help to put an end to the bitterness connected to these memories, the Post is issuing a stamp denominated at NT$5.00 featuring a picture of the museum building provided by the Memorial Foundation of 228.
(1) First Day Cover to be sold at NT$2.00 apiece. (2) Folder especially prepared for the stamp to be sold at NT$5.00 apiece. (3) Folder with crystal mount for better protection of the stamp to be sold at NT$5.00 apiece. (4) Loose-leaf stamp album page with plastic cover to be sold at NT$8.00 apiece. (5) Pre-cancelled First Day Cover affixed with a stamp to be sold at NT$7.00 apiece. To purchase relative stamps, the public can go directly to the post offices, or order on line at http://stamp.post.gov.tw
