To convey the magnificence and beauty of Taiwan's mountains and raise the quality of ROC citizens' recreational activities in the mountains, Chunghwa Post is issuing four sets of stamps on the 11 Taiwan Mountains." The first and second sets, featuring Mount Jade and Mount Hsueh, were released in 2001 and 2002. The third set -11 Mount Nanhu" - features (1) "Spring on Wuyen Peak of Mount Nanhu," (2) "Glacial Cirques on Mount Nanhu," (3) the "Main Peak of Mount Nanhu" and (4) "Snow on Mount Chungyang Chien."Mount Nanhu is situated at the northern end of the Central Range, with its main peak soaring to a height of 3,742 meters, which makes it the highest peak in Taroko National Park. Standing shoulder to shoulder with the renowned Mount Chungyang Chien, it is awe-inspiring to behold and has the air of an emperor. Its beautiful cirques were sculpted by glaciers during the Ice Age. During the winter, the prevailing northeastern monsoon and cold fronts bring heavy snows for as long as four months. It has the deepest snows and the longest snow season in Taiwan.
