To promote universal participation in sports, this Directorate has chosen to focus on two of them: table tennis, which provides good exercise and amusement and can be played by men and women of any age, and rugby, which is tough and manly in character, with an emphasis on speed and explosiveness. This set of four sports stamps are arranged in horizontal se-tenant pairs(one pair  for rugby and one pair for table tennis). Sports competitions are the most fascinating and exciting of all physical activities. The vigor and beauty that the athletes display when they are challenging the limits of their physical capacities, and their techniques, which blend sport with art, are magnificent to see.Sporting events are above politics. They are about fair competition, exchange of techniques and the transcending of national boundaries. Sports stamps are very important in the realm of philately.
