To introduce the beautiful arts of Chinese Stone Lion, and to convey the Chinese people's wishes for good fortune and warding off evil spirits, this Directorate released a set of Chinese Stone Lion Postage Stamps which takes as the motif the Stone Lion of Lukouchiao. The stone lion railings, the stone pavilion and the inscription 〝The dawn in Lukouchiao〞 inscribed by Ching Dynasty's Emperor Chien-lung, are the most famous engravings of Lukouchiao. There are 281 pieces of railings on the bridge. Each railing has a big lion on it. The male has a ball under his front foot, while the female has one or more baby lions on her back, under her front feet or beneath her claws. The baby lions are depicted in a seated, crouching or lying position, with their heads raised, mouths open and tails up, having a graceful appearance.
