Ch'u Ts'u, representative of the literature of southern China during the Chun Chiu (Spring and Autumn) period (722-481 B·C·) of Chinese history, is as famous a collection of poems as Shih Chin Book of Odes& which is indigenous to northern China· Generations of literary critics since the Six Dynasties (222-589 A·D·) have reached a consensus that the two compendiums of masterpieces are undoubtedly and uniquely the very fountainhead of all Chinese poetry, lyrics, and verses of later times· The main subjects of Ch'u Ts'u are life, realistically, philosophically, and in many other facets of our being· As before, only two sentences out of four pieces as Li Sao, Chiu Ko(shao ssu ming), Chiu Chang (she chiang) and Chiu Pien, the most loved expressions by generations of Chinese, appear on the stamps·
