To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Freedom Day, this Directorate released a set of two stamps. The 2.00 stamp depicts anti-Communist patriots of the Korean War showing joy at their freedom from Communist tyranny. The 18.00 stamp features nations of the world demonstrating support of freedom. Freedom Day was designated January 23, 1954, to mark the big event during the Korean War that some 14,000 Chinese Communist soldiers, unmoved by Communist threats, valiantly chose the side of freedom and returned to the bosom of their mother country-the Republic of China.Realizing that its goal 〝for the freedom of mankind〞 is the same as that of our Freedom Day Movement, the World Anti-Communist League designated January 23rd as World Freedom Day in the 2nd Congress in 1968, to further promote the Movement.
