Madame Chiang Kai-shek, a ranking painter it the Chinese style, was represented once again in a set of stamps in 1977. Madame Chiang has won critical acclaim for her paintings of flowers, orchids and bamboo as well as landscapes. Her style has been compared with that of some of the Chinese classical masters of the last 2,000 years. The paintings shown on the stamps are four outstanding examples of her landscapes: 〝Green Mountains Rising into the Clouds〞, 〝Boat Amidst the Beauty of Spring〞, 〝Scholar Beside the Spring Rivulent〞and 〝Green Water Rising to Meet the Bridge〞
