The 1976 Census of Industry and Commerce in Taiwan-Fukien area of the Republic of China was taken on April 1-May 15, 1977. To stimulate public attention and to elicit their cooperation, a set of 〝Census of Industry and Commerce Postage Stamps〞 was released on March 16, 1977. The main purpose of this national census conducted by the government is to collect data on main equipment, capital, production structure, operation, and other features of business and industry, in order to provide valuable reference material for planning economic construction projects, promoting economic development, and helping businessmen and industrialists to expand their business. The subjects investigated include the following seven categories established in the Taiwan and Fukien area: mining; manufacturing; water-supply; electricity and gas; construction commerce, transportation; telecommunications and storage; and service trade.
