A wide-variety of popular entertainments come from old traditional customs and have become one of China's elegant arts. They are performed in an interesting, happy, comical way especially on Lunar New Year holidays, Lantern Festival, temple fairs, and other special festivals. They express the spirit of Chinese traditional culture, the customs and practices of the Chinese people, and the real nature of Chinese joy, and Chinese love of peace and harmony. The four pictures of these entertainments featured on the stamps are (1) Kicking the shuttle cock, (2) Dancing of a fisherman and an oyster fairy, (3) Rowing a boat overland, and (4) Carrying a young lady on an old man's back.
