The Phonopost Service was inaugurated on an experimental basis on March 20, 1959 for the purpose of strengthening the morale of Armed Forces and meeting the strong needs of the public. It afforded new communication facilities for the servicemen at the front and for their families, friends, etc., in the rear. In order to acquaint the public with this new service, the postage stamp with the 〝Phonopost Service〞 as its subject was issued.
