The year 2005 marks the centennial anniversary of Rotary International, which was founded in 1905. To honor the contributions of Rotary International to society over the past century, Chunghwa Post is issuing a set of two stamps to commemorate its centennial anniversary. The design of the NT$5.00 stamp features the map of Taiwan next to the Centennial Anniversary Logo of Rotary International to symbolize the Rotarian spirit in Taiwan. The design of the NT$12.00 stamp places a dove of peace side by side with the Centennial Anniversary Logo of Rotary International to convey efforts made by Rotarians to promote world peace. Rotary International is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit organization, composed of business and professional men and women aiming to promote community harmony, world peace and human welfare. The Rotary Club of Taipei was first chartered in 1931 and currently has more than 16,000 members belonging to 460 clubs around the island. Together they work towards the aims and ideals of Rotary International.
