At the Athens 2004 Olympics, athletes from Taiwan grabbed two gold medals and a silver medal in Taekwondo, as well as a silver medal for the men’s team in archery and a bronze medal for the women’s team. To honor these great athletes’ excellent performances, Chunghwa Post is issuing a set of four stamps, featuring the Taekwondo and archery events in which the ROC won medals, as well as the awards ceremony.
At the Athens 2004 Olympics, the female Taekwondo contestant Chen “Lioness’ Roar” Shih-hsin won the first-ever Olympic gold for the ROC. The male Taekwondo contestant Chu “Shadowless Feet” Mu-yen won the nation’s second Olympic gold, and his teammate Huang Chih-hsiung won a silver medal. In archery, the ROC won a men’s team silver and a women’s team bronze. It was the ROC’s best showing ever at the Olympics.
