To strengthen person to person diplomacy and to raise the level of stamp collecting activities, this Directorate is holding the "Taipei International Stamp Exhibition 1999" with the Chinese Taipei Philatelic Federation in the Taipei Postal Museum from July 23 to 27, 1999. By inviting world-famous philatelists to participate, it is providing stampcollectors opportunities to compare notes and learn. By requisitioning stamp collections, judging their quality and offering lectures on special topics, the exhibition should help to raise the level and popularity of philately in Taiwan, raise the profile of Taiwan's philatelic collectibles internationally, and increase demand for ROC stamps.To make the exhibition an even greater success, this Directorate will issue a "Chinese Classical Opera (Legends of the Ming Dynasty)" souvenir sheet, on which will be printed "Taipei International Stamp Exhibition 1999" and July 23, 1999. The exhibition insignia will also be printed in color on the upper left corner to commemorate the occasion.The souvenir sheet will be released on the opening day of the exhibition.
