The 20th Asia-Pacific and 8th Scouts of China National Jamboree will be held from August 2 to August 9, 1998 on the campus of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. In commemoration of this regional Jamboree being held in Taiwan, and for the sake of promoting the development of the scout movement this Directorate especially plans to issue a set of two stamps to mark the occasion. Both will have a facevalue of NT$5.00. The stamps will have a triangular shape for the first time ever in the postage stamp issue history of the ROC, and will be printed in a se-tenant block, with two sets of two stamps forming a square with a total of four stamps. Scouting began in 1907 with the aim of teaching teens to accept and carry out their duties, to be independent trusting and cooperative, to acquire leadership skills and cultivate correct views about life, one's country and the world.
