The Lukouchiao incident, which took place on July 7, 1937, angered the Chinese people to the extent that they rose to fight Japanese aggression, signaling the outbreak of war. This war lasted for eight years, from 1937 to Japan's surrender in 1945, and on October 25 of the same year, Taiwan was returned to the Republic of China. The year 1995 was the 50th anniversary of the end of the Sino-Japanese war and the return of Taiwan to the Republic of China. To circulate the truth of the war and to propagate the economic and political miracles that Taiwan has created, this Directorate issued a set of two stamps and a souvenir sheet (78×102 mm.).One stamp features Chinese soldiers chasing the enemy in a fierce battle and the other stamp depicts the celebration of Taiwan's return to the fatherland.
