   Louis Pasteur was a French microbiologist· His achievements in microbiology, pathology, and chemistry were well-known to the global scientific community· Pasteur died on September 28, 1895, and the year 1995 marked the 100th anniversary of his death· To honor Pasteur's many contributions to mankind, to coincide with the event in celebration of Pasteur Centennial held by the French, and to promote the international academic exchange, a commemorative stamp, using Pasteur's portrait as the design, was issued·
