On August 23, 1958, an artillery battle broke out on the offshore island of Kinmen on an unprecedented scale. Under leadership of the late President Chiang Kai-shek, armed forces and the people on the island united as one in the face of the Chinese communists. Fighting side by side, they defeated the enemy, winning a glorious victory. On the 30th anniversary of this significant event, this Directorate released a commemorative issue to show our honor for their inspiring heroic deeds.
