The 70th Annual Convention of the Lions Clubs International was held in Taipei this year. To mark the occasion, this Directorate released a commemorative issue on July 1, 1987.

Since Melvin Jones (1879-1961) of the United States organized the first Lions Club in 1917, Lions has spread throughout the world. The Lions' ideal to serve and to benefit society has been recognized and shared by an increasing number of people.
