The 60th anniversary of the Northward Expedition was on July 9, 1986. To mark this significant occasion, this Directorate released a set of stamps on that day. This set consists of two surcharged stamps; the original stamps are 6.00 and 9.00 of the 〝Third Additional Print of the National Flag Postage Stamps.〞 The 6.00 stamp was surcharged as 2.00, the 9.00 stamp as 8.00. Besides, the two surcharged stamps were overprinted with fifteen Chinese characters, reading 〝60th Anniversary of Northward Expedition by the National Revolutionary Army.〞 The surcharged and overprinted work was done by China Engraving & Printing Works, Taipei.
