Scouting celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding this year. Begun in 1907, Scouting’s 75th anniversary coincides with the 125th anniversary birthdate of its founder, Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell, England. To celebrate these anniversaries, the Boy Scouts of China held the Chinese Boy Scouts 10th Jamboree beginning July 18, 1982. This Directorate released a commemorative issue honoring Scouting on the opening day of the Jamboree. The issue consists of two stamps. The 2.00 stamp bears a portrait of Lord Baden-Powell. The 18.00 stamp features the Scout emblem on a background depicting outdoor scouting activities.
