The Meiho Senior Leaguers of the Republic of China, representing the Pacific Region, won the championship in the senior category of the Little League World Series at Gary, Indiana, U.S.A., on August 21, 1972 (Taiwan time) by beating the American Western team 9-0. This was the first try of the Republic of China in the senior category of the LL World Series. The Taipei City Little Leaguers of the Republic of China, representing the Pacific Region, won the Little League World Series Championship on August 26, 1972 (Taiwan time) at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. This was the third time that the Republic of China won the World Title, the first one being in 1969 and the second in 1971. To mark the winning of twin championships of the 1972 LL World Series of baseball by the Republic of China teams, a set of commemorative stamps was issued on September 9, 1972, Sports Day. The stamps, being originally of the 〝Dignity With Self-Reliance〞 definitives, are overprinted with eighteen Chinese characters 〝中華青少年及少年棒球雙獲世界冠軍紀念〞 meaning 〝Commemorating the Winning of Twin Championships of LL World Series,〞 the year 1972 and a picture of the pitcher pitching the ball.
