The Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction (JCRR) was created in 1948 for the agriculture development and rural reconstruction in China. Since its inauguration, JCRR has contributed a lot in developing our agriculture and upgrading the farmer's living standard. In recent years, special efforts has been made for extending the crop-area to the foothills and slopelands, and for improving the varieties of crops raised. In international cooperation, JCRR has helped train foreign technicians for most Asian and African countries, and sent Chinese agricultural technicians abroad. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of JCRR, this set of commemorative postage stamps was issued. The two denominations have the same design which pictures a pair of powerful hands experimenting with ways for improving crop variety as the central motif, and the extension of crop-area to the foothills and slopelands as the background.
